Departure Time

8:30 AM
Meet your guide at Bayeux train station or Place de Quebec, or your Bayeux hotel, and settle inside your comfortable, air-conditioned minivan with a group of eight travelers or fewer.

Then, drive to the Normandy coast as your guide shares background on the Allied D-Day landings of June 6, 1944. Few people know about the huge sacrifice made by Canadians as they held positions west of Caen and halted counter-attacks by the German 12th SS Panzer division.

While many have seen the movie Saving Private Ryan, most don’t know the numbers of Canadian soldiers buried in Normandy as a result of the two months of fighting that occurred here during the summer of 1944.

Stop at Juno Beach, where Canadian assault troops first stormed ashore in the face of fierce attacks from German strongholds. The Canadians suffered the second-highest number of casualties here, with the Americans losing the most at Omaha Beach.

Hear how the soldiers swept through heavy machine gun fire, and visit different sections of the sands from St. Aubin sur Mer to Graye sur Mer, where the 3rd infantry division landed.

Next, visit the Juno Beach Centre, a museum dedicated to the 45,000 Canadians who lost their lives in the war, including the 359 on D-Day, and 5,500 during the Battle for Normandy. Chart the story of these Canadians through the photos, archives, first-hand accounts, and artifacts, and see the excavated German bunkers on the beach.

Pay your respects at the Canadian War Cemetery and then track the route of the 9th Brigade advance on June 7 to the Abbey d'Ardenne and the capture of Caen and Carpiquet.

Lastly, stop to take in the monuments commemorating the bloody battles of Hill 67, just south of Caen. Your comprehensive tour then concludes with a drop-off at the original starting point.

The trip didn’t go ahead after my best efforts to organise. The local operator was very hard to get a hold of, almost impossible. I tried to contact Viator as well but only got to automated systems which didn’t give me any options. VIATOR please contact me directly ( by phone!!!) in order to arrange ASAP my refund!!!! We drove over 500 km’s to have this tour and we got notified of its cancellation the night before when we had already arrived.

World war 1 battlefields tour of Flander from Bruges

A wonderful informative day, full of stops, museum, memorial Cemeteries etc. The last part of the day was a bit long when a trip to Caen was still part of the tour, we could have done without this part. It was ok, but by this time we absorbed so much already. Other then that, an enjoyable time, if one may call it that, due to the somber admosphere.

Our guide Matthew was excellent. He picked us up at our Bayeux hotel at 830am and we didnt arrive back until 530pm. He took us to several sites and was very knowledgeable on all aspects of the Normandy period. I would highly recommend this tour.

We toured the Normandy Canadian Beaches Tour and it was very informative and quite touching. I was picked up at my hotel in Bayeux by Sophie our tour guide who was very knowledgeable of all the landing beaches not just the Canadian beaches. We went to the beaches, to the Canadian D-Day Museum, had a nice lunch overlooking the beach, on to Caen and more. A great tour. to Caen and L'Etienne Abby and more. It was a great day

Fabulous tour!

We did the full day Canadian site tour, and our guide was Antoine and he is the best tour guide ever! So knowledgeable, so personable and you can tell he loves his job! As it turned out, my son and I were the only ones who signed up for this tour on that day, so it was like we had a personal tour. So nice that the tour company didn’t cancel the tour since only two of us signed up... We had originally thought about just renting a car and driving ourselves around, but we decided to pay more for a tour with a guide who would tell us more than what we would get out of it being on our own. So worth it! Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn all about how Canadians played a big part in D-Day and beyond!

Great Personal Tour of the Canadian Sector

My wife and I took a Cdn sector tour with Normandy Sightseeing Tours. We were very pleased with the overall tour. Our guide Mathew did an excellent job at answering our questions and was very knowledgeable about the subject matter. We also had Mathew on the American sector tour and he did an excellent job there as well. The tour met all our expectations and would recommend it to anyone interested in the subject matter.

This full day tour provided insight into what these young men went through. Our guide Ensophie was pleasant and informative. Full credit to Garth Webb for his efforts to establish the centre. Having Canadian hosts was a nice touch. Proud to be Canadian.
