Set off on a stroll around the narrow streets of the Bari Old Town. Stop for a look at the pilgrimage church of the Basilica of St. Nicholas. Dedicated to the saint whose legend became Santa Claus, the church houses his holy remains in an ornate crypt. See the Cathedral of St. Sabinus, and admire the nearby 12th-century Swabian Castle.

Continue through the Old Town to scout out the best eateries with your guide. Stop at a pastry bakery to sample focaccia barese. Bite into creamy burrata as you learn about cheese and salami at a delicatessen; sip wine as you hear about the region’s wine-making heritage; and discover the secrets of rich, homemade ice cream as you eat one, of course.

Finish with a visit to the modern French part of the city, where opera theaters, luxury boutiques, and a seaside market can be found. Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.

Barbara, our guide for this tour was terrific. She was knowledgeable, fun and had a great attitude. The tour was well-paced with the food events well integrated into the tour. We were blown away when we had the pasta. We were invited into the home of the lady making the pasta for our tasting. It was a real local food experience. Be aware this is a tasting tour and portions are small.
great way to see the destination

we walked off the ship and took a little while to find the location but the locals had a great help - just before you go into the city they have their office. Very well organize and great information about the city and food - All the stops were great to taste.
Marianna Was an Excellent Guide!

Marianna made this tour a wonderful experience! Her interest, her knowledge of the city, and her genuine enthusiasm for the tour made all the difference! We wound up doing the bike tour instead of the walking tour and loved it! We were able to try four different kinds of food: foccaccia, freshly made orrecchiette, delicious burrata, salami, and other local meats/cheeses, and finally gelato. Our only issue, which had nothing to do with Marianna or the actual tour, was that when we booked, we couldn't choose the time. We didn't find out the time of our tour until the afternoon before, meaning we weren't able to plan our day in Bari well. Regardless, we would highly recommend this tour and this company as they did an excellent job and they treated us like they really wanted us to be there. If you can request Marianna, do won't be disappointed!!
Mind-changing experience

When considering excursions from our cruise, I initially thought we might just find our own way into Bari old town, snap a few pictures, eat a little ice cream and then return to the cruise ship. I am now so glad that we didn't do that. Instead, we booked walking tour and upgraded to a 'rickshaw' bicycle tour and this stop was suddenly at the top of the list of places visited during this tour. Our guide, Michele, was an incredible 'ambassador' as he took us around the old city, into neighborhoods for an intimate view into everyday life and samples of their food, to ancient churches, castles and fortifications there - giving depth and insight we might not have gained otherwise. And then he pedaled us all the way back to the dock well in advance of sailing time. Well done, Michele! Best wishes in your studies and future.

Nice food tour of Bari. We had a nice host/guide who walked us around the old city and pointed out some neat places. We only stopped at 3 places for food an okay appetizer bar, an incredible pasta restaurant where we got to see a woman actually roll the pasta, and a gelataria so it was a bit light on sampling food to be considered a food tour. We did learn a decent amount about Bari, particularly the old town, but I guess we left a little disappointed in the experience.
