Make your way to a central location in Barcelona, where you’ll meet your guide for a night of food and drink in the Born neighborhood. Kick off the evening in local style, with a classic aperitif, including a light snack and chilled vermouth, at a family-owned bodega.

The next stop is a Barcelona wine bar, tasting elaborate, open-face sandwiches with a series of wine pairings—the eight wines you’ll try through the evening are the equivalent of roughly four full glasses. Explore a wide range of regions and styles of Spanish wine, with plenty of time to ask questions and discuss the flavors you encounter.

Your evening of wine and food concludes at a modern bodega-style tapas bar serving local and organic farm-to-table dishes. Learn which wines best complement their classic flavors. In true Spanish style you’ll finish the night with something sweet, then say goodbye to your guide and group in the heart of the Born neighborhood, close to public transport and some of Barcelona’s best bars.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Bodega La Puntual
Start your night the way most locals do in Barcelona—with a classic aperitif in Barcelona's original style of tapas bar. Here you’ll enjoy sweet vermouth straight from the tap, and you’ll learn why this delicious fortified wine is making a comeback. You’ll also try two quintessential Barcelona tapas: Iberian ham croquettes and spicy patatas bravas.

Stop At:
ELDISET
Next up, you’ll head to a modern wine bar that highlights small, local Catalan wine producers. That means that the wines we try here are ones you'll never find in a normal store! First we'll dive into the world of sparkling Spanish wine—cava—which is mostly produced in Catalonia. You’ll taste two very different cavas before moving on to something Spain is a little less known for: white and rosé! These wines will be paired with gourmet, open-faced toasts, a traditional Catalan dish.
Duration: 50 minutes
Admission Ticket Free
Stop At:
Bar del Pla
We'll finish with a sit-down tapas dinner at a restaurant that's fully booked most nights of the week. If you want to understand tapas culture in Barcelona, this is where you need to go. The contemporary farm-to-table food has a clear connection to tradition, as well as to Barcelona's modern cuisine. Plus, the owner even makes his own wine! You’ll taste a couple of Catalonia's standout reds, paired alongside dishes like melt-in-your-mouth Iberian pork or tender braised beef.

The tapas was an experience. Walking around Las Ramblas was exciting and visiting the market and learning history of the area. Vermut was so good as well as a taste of the shandy to savor the taste of the tapas.

We always do a food tour the first day we are in a new town as we find it's a great introduction to the city and we usually get great restaurant ideas. This tour is above and beyond FANTASTIC!!! We worked our way from restaurant to restaurant, tasting all kinds of wines (4 stops total). I literally was almost full (almost!) after the first stop. The food we had was absolutely delicious. We'd have never known to stop into these local places, or what to order, and we had some really fantastic food. Our tour guide knew his history of the Born district and gave us a background on the history of the city and the culture. It's a small group, which is nice because you get to talk to people and meet new friends. Definitely recommend this tour!

Our guide was fantastic :-) She really knows the area and where to get the best of each type of tapa (there are a million tapas places around, some better than others). She is both a foodie and she works in the wine industry so she knows how to pair up the food and wine nicely. We tried 7 or 8 tapas and 11 wines and never felt rushed or overwhelmed. She made it easy for strangers to have a good time together with her conversation and stories as well as allowing us to conversations on our own - we were from all over the US with various experience levels. It was really a fun nite and very satisfying to the palate :-)

We took this tour our first night in...

We took this tour our first night in Barcelona, and we are so glad we did. The group is limited to only 9 participants, keeping it fun and intimate. The guide, Fin, is a Brit who has resettled in Barcelona, completely embracing its culture. He is eager to share his vast knowledge of the city, its customs and history. The tour consisted of three stops for tapas and wine. Well, not just wine. At the first restaurant we sampled a very pleasant local dark, slightly sweet Yzaguirre vermouth which was accompanied yummy patatas bravas crispy potatoes with a creamy and a spicy sauce. Both were delightful. This was followed by creamy jamon croquettes, the best we had while in Spain. The second stop was at wine bar to sample some tostas and of course wine. Tostas are tapas created on thin crispy bread. Two types were served. The first was a juicy roasted eggplant and the second an unusual but tasty mixture of raspberry jam, blue cheese and green apple which created constantly changing flavors on the palate. These were paired with small production regionally produced cavas sparkling wine which paired delightfully with the tostas. Two additional regional wines were served in addition. Last stop was a small wine store/bar which featured local wines dispensed directly from barrels. These wines which were surprisingly good and cost as little as 2,30 euros per liter! The wine shop had a private room next door which allowed us to taste a number more wines paired with local cheeses and meats. This was a very relaxing conclusion to a brilliantly curated evening of food, wine and lively discussions. One further note Fin followed up the evening by sending each of us an email with an attachment detailing where we had been and what we had sampled. In addition, he gave us a very informative handout packed with information on things to do in Barcelona, places to eat by district barrio, wine bars/shops and more! Fins eagerness to help make help make our visit enjoyable was unparalleled during our trip.
