The full-day tour begins with pickup at your Barcelona accommodations and a drive south along the Costa Dorada to the ancient city of Tarragona. Called Tarraco during the days of the Roman Empire, this was one of the main cities of ancient Hispania and bears archaeological traces of its stately past through well-preserved ruins.

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage–listed complex with your guide, listening to tales of power and glory as you visit the ancient city walls, Roman Forum, and shoreline amphitheater that dates back to the 2nd century.

Travel back into the modern era as you head up the coast to Sitges, a charming fishing town that was once a popular health tourism destination thanks to its proximity to both sea and mountains. Take a walking tour through the winding streets of the old town center, passing landmarks including the church of San Bartolomé and Santa Tecla and Modernist gems like Casa Bacardi.

Unique shops, restaurants, and live music lend Sitges a bohemian and artistic atmosphere that spills out onto the sandy shores of San Sebastian beach. Spend some time admiring the view from a beachside terrace or perhaps taking a dip in the Mediterranean waters before the return drive to Barcelona.

Loved it! Must do

This is the perfect day trip. Arnau was our guide and he was the best. Picked us up right by our airbnb in El Bourne and immediately started cracking jokes with us. We saw ancient Roman ruins on the way to Tarragona and that was really cool. Tarragona was a great walking tour and Arnau knew everthing about it. Sitges was such a cool little beach town and super relaxing. We had ample time to be on our own and explore the beach and cafe's. I cant recommend this enough, and Arnau as the tour guide.

Great guide and nice full-day tour

The tour guide, Kurt, was very knowledgeable about the destinations and provided a lot of good information. We ended up being the only two people who booked the tour so we essentially got a private tour for the price of a small group tour. The ruins in Tarragona were interesting to see. Sitges is a quint, beachfront town that is scenic but lacks high-end shops and restaurants. It seemed rather touristy. Nonetheless, this was a good tour that matched the description on Viator.

Unfortunately it rained heavily most of the day, but our guide vicento did a wonderful job showing and explaining all about Tarragano and later Sitges. Heavy traffic in and out of Barcelona added to the time in the car - possibly a bit long.

Our host Kurt-Jaume made the day.... I think if we had spent the day in a bar with him it would have been a great day. The conversation covered politics / what makes a good Iberian ham / why so many Spaniards smoke etc... and the we arrived in Tarragona. Different pace to the town than Barcelona and Kurt's explanations made sense of ruins pieced into the town. Cold drinks in a plaza and more conversation. The to Sitges... old town on the headland was an unexpected treat. Beachfront eateries OK without being anything special. Drive back to Barcelona by a different route gave us a different look at the city. Kurt is what us Australians call as dry as a chip.... certainly not the run of the mill tour guide but some-one who was a pleasure to spend the day with.

It was a minimum of 12 on this tour but it just the guide and the two of us so we went in his car! We went to Sitges first which is a beautiful seaside town and then to Tarragona which has some really excellent Roman ruins - the best we have seen except for in Rome and Pompeii.

The tour, lead by Mariusz Lewy was spectacular. It was more than we could have hoped for, a memorable day that won't be forgotten. Mariusz showed us the Roman ruins and the medieval city, describing all in great detail. Anyone who is interested in Tarragona's passed history should make this a must to visit.
