  • Personalized small group and commentary
  • Expert English-speaking guide
  • Best tour for Dali enthusiasts and you'll see hidden treasures off the beaten path

Why Travelers Choose This Tour

Cover at least four Dali sites and haunts in a day, including Port Lligat in winter and Pubol in summer.
Leave central Barcelona by air-conditioned minivan and set off on your day trip. As you travel, listen as your guide shares tales of Salvador Dalí’s life, and gaze out over the passing countryside and villages.

After a while, arrive in Figueres, Dalí’s birthplace and home to his famous Dalí Theatre-Museum. See the house where Dalí was born in 1904, and then continue to the museum. Home to a vast range of Dalí’s creations, it offers a unique insight into his works and artistic vision.

Marvel at the exterior with its giant, rooftop egg sculptures, and use your included ticket to skip any admission lines and head straight inside. Enjoy time to explore at leisure, and view everything from Dalí’s early experiments with cubism to later surrealist works such as the Galatea of the Spheres, and the famed Mae West Room installation.

Having explored here, reconvene with your guide and continue your tour as shown below depending on the time of year. For more details, see the Itinerary section.

Winter: Cadaqués and Port Lligat (September 1 - June 30):
Depart Figueres and make the scenic drive to Cadaqués. Admire this pretty seaside Costa Brava village, and get free time for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant. Next, travel to Port Lligat, a coastal village where Dalí built a private retreat, now converted into a museum. Head inside (own expense) to explore, and after a panoramic drive around the spectacular Cap de Creus, finish your tour in central Barcelona.

Summer: Pubol Castle and Platja del Castell (July 1 – August 31):
Leave Figueres for Pubol Castle, once a home of Dalí and his wife Gala, located in the village of the same name. Visit the Gala Dalí House-Museum in the castle, and after lunch (own expense), venture to the attractive seafront town of Platja del Castell. Admire the castle-like house of muralist Josep Maria Sert, a friend of Dalí, where Dalí visited during the 1930s, and then return to Barcelona, where your trip ends.

Venture to one of the many beautiful beach side towns that dot the Costa Brava coastline. Please remember to bring suitable clothing if you want to enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea or relax on the beach.

Please note: The Salvador Dalí House in Port Lligat is closed between January 1 and January 4, and January 11 to February 11. On these dates, guests will see only the exterior of the house.

Stop At:
Dali Theatre-Museum
10.00am - You will arrive at the world famous Dalí Museum-Theatre in Figueres, the birthplace of Dalí, where you will be taken straight past the queues inside. Step inside the surreal world of Salvador Dalí and find a museum like none other. Dalí wanted visitors to see his massive collection as a ‘whole’ work, and for this reason he wanted no catalogues and refused to have his works placed in chronological or subject order. Inside is a world of fantasy mixed with architecture mixed with paintings and sculptures. It’s a complete surrealistic experience.
Duration: 2 hours
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Schedule September 1st - June 30th 1.00pm - After a morning discovering the art of Dalí, you will head to the beautiful coastal village of Cadaqués. Famous for its white washed Mediterranean houses, narrow shady streets, and sandy bay, this is one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava. But what really stands out for many people is the dramatic drive there, which offers some of the best views in the whole of Catalunya. This is the perfect place for lunch. In the afternoon you will travel just a few minutes up the coast to the even smaller village of Port Lligat.

Surreal Experience of the immortal Dali.

We had a most amazing day visiting the Dali museum Figueres and his home in Port Lligat. Our small group was a perfect size. Arnau, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us the summary of Dalis life on the 2 hour drive to Figueres then walked us inside the museum and laid out the best way to experience it. The museum itself was a magical insight into the mad genius himself and included the jewel collection as well. Next up lunch in lovely Cadaqués topped by the optional tour of Dalis home- don’t miss it! On the ride gone we asked Arnau about all things Catalunya and he gave us a greater understanding of the culture and perspective of the entire region. Truly special. Be prepared to spend the whole day. Don’t miss this if you love art and culture.

Hello, Another great review for Arnold and our tour. Thank you so much, Robert
Great tour
, Mar 2020
This tour was great. I was so excited for the Dali museum that I fell when we were walking towards it and tried to take a pic. Other people from the group checked in on me and our tour guide, Gloria, went out of her way twice to get me ice and made sure I was ok. Despite this little fall, everything was great!

Dali museum and house
, Feb 2020
We had a fabulous day out yesterday at the Dali museum (including jewels section which was exceptional). Lots to see with highlights including the Mae West room. Our guide Gloria was very charming and knowledgeable and we were able to make the most of the day because of the context that she provided on the journey, and information in the museums. Cadaques is a beautiful seaside town for the lunch stop (we brought a picnic but there were lots of options for dining), and then we went to Dali’s house nearby. This is 14 euros extra, or 8 euros for those over 65. Bring age ID. The house is by the sea with amazing views. It has lots of Dali’s personal possessions, the studio set up, and has a pretty garden. Our driver Marcelo provided a safe, smooth ride, allowing us to admire the views of the Catalan countryside as we went. Thank you Gloria and Marcelo!

Great day trip
, Feb 2020
We didn’t know much about Dalí before our tour but Jordi, our guide, did a great job at sharing the history and life of Dalí. He was a fantastic storyteller. The museum was very interesting and we had a lot of choices for a great lunch. The coast was beautiful and I’m glad we chose to go to Dali’s summer home.

Great Salvador Dali outing from Barcelona
, Jan 2020
This was a very well run, comfortable and interesting Salvador Dali-focused outing. Our guide, Steven, was knowledgeable and informative and shared many details and facts we had previously not known about Dali. We toured the museum, the charming seaside town of Cadaqués, Dali’s home in Port Ligat and the eastern-most point of Spain, Cas de Crues, all of which have connections to Dali. It was a great way to see these sights and we highly recommend this tour.

This is indeed a full day’s excursion....about 10 to 11 hours, but well worth the time. The Costa Brava is exquisite and Dali collection and home are pure fascination. Thank you Nicholas for a memorable day!

Dear, I will pass your positive vibes to our tour guide Nicolau. Salvador Dalí is a really nice way to meet a little bit mora about the intimate life of Dali and his origins before he became one of the most important artist in the spanish art history. Kind regards, Núria
