Excellent way to combine some nature and culture. It was well organised, friendly guide. I really enjoyed the walk in the mountains, a beautifull place to spend some time outside the city.

Day among the clouds

Small group is the way to go! There were enough of us booked on this day that we split into 2 groups and our guide was Ferran (hope I spelled that correctly!). The meeting spot was easy to find, our guides on time, and we quickly got into the vans and hit the road. The drive out of Barcelona and up into the mountains was lovely. I do with that our guide had given us a bit more information on the are we were passing through. He was always ready with an answer, but tended not to offer information unless asked. There was a lot of walking, and little of it flat; either slopes or stairs, so be aware that this could be a challenge for anyone with mobility challenges. There were many tour groups at the monastery, and more arrived throughout our visit, so everything was a bit crowded. Be aware that you may get jostled or have to press your way in to see the sights. After a tour of the monastery we boarded the cable car for a ride up into the clouds. Note, the ride is smooth and secure, but those with a fear of heights may find it a challenge. The peak was still shrouded in clouds when we got to the top, but as we descended on the well maintained trail they began to clear. The views were spectacular. Our hike brought us back down to monastery where we had free time for lunch at one of the many cafeterias, shopping at the gift shops, and more wandering of the grounds, before heading back to Barcelona. I do wish that taking the teleferic/gondola down the mountain was an option for the tour. There were more attractions around the monastery than time to explore in our short free time, such as the art Museum. Also, seeing one of the main attractions, the Black Madonna, was not included. Overall, it was still a great visit.

Perfect way to end our last day In Barcelona

We were two Canadians on the last leg of our 28 day trip, loved this tour, small group who enjoyed each other’s company, our tour guide, David, was excellent, on time, lovely van. David was so knowledgeable, he really made the trip, he even jokingly gave us a “window of good weather” while there, this tour surpassed our expectations, we heard the Boys Choir sing at 1PM, a highlight as well, the walk down the mountain was excellent, the scenery out of this world. Thanks to David for making our last day in Barcelona so remarkable.

Amazing adventure!

This excursion has it all. First there is a beautiful ride through the countryside outside Barcelona to Montserrat. Once there the Monastery is incredible. The Cathedral is so beautiful - and don't miss the Boys Choir singing at 1 pm. It is magical. Next there is a Funicular ride up 2000 feet to the mountain top. On a clear day you can see the Mediterranean! The views are incredible. We walked down to the Monastery with our guide. It is a hike but downhill all the way! You can ride the Funicular back down too. A great excursion.

Moreneta Visit

Me and my wife spent almost the whole day during this trip. First of all Ferran is the best guide to look for if you are to visit Montserrat. He educated our group regarding the religious history, geology and the environment of the place. It is amazing how this place came to be and it’s relation to the Moreneta. Towards the end of the trip we had to let the group to leave us just to see the Moreneta because the line was too long. It was all very worth it.

Great Excursion

This small group excursion was perfect, our tour operator was very acknowledgeable and explained and answered all our questions like a Pro. We got there early which was perfect, as we had the place almost to ourselves, and all our pictures and visit was smooth, even gave us time to see the Black Madonna, something that's fairly impossible because of the lines. The lift took us to the top of the mountain where we had the most amazing breathtaking views. We then had the option of hiking down, or just going down on the lift, which we opted for the later as we were tired from walking the previous days. then the tour operator gave us sufficient free time, which we used to visit the museum and at a snack and coffee, there was no need to go back to where we had been previously, as we had an intense well explained visit. The entire visit was perfect, and as the morning went by, tons of people kept arriving and you could see long waiting iines, something we DID NOT HAVE, the entire trip was AMAZING !!!!
