Depart central Barcelona by air-conditioned coach and journey through Catalonia’s countryside to Girona, a lovely old walled city that straddles the Onyar River.

Along the way, hear how Girona reached its zenith in medieval days, and how its wealth was directed into the construction of many extravagant Romanesque and Gothic buildings.

After a scenic drive, arrive in the charming Old Town and set off to explore with your guide. Meander down cobbled streets and weave your way into the atmospheric Jewish Quarter. Take in the picturesque houses and squares, and learn how this quaint area was home to one Catalonia’s most prosperous Jewish enclaves during the Middle Ages.

Admire the Baroque façade of Girona Cathedral, and stop to take snaps of Girona’s best-known view — the panoramas over the colorfully-painted houses huddled along the Onyar.

After free time to have lunch (own expense) at any of Girona’s enticing restaurants, hop back inside your coach and travel on to Figueres, where the iconic Spanish surrealist, Salvador Dalí, was born in 1904.

Hear about Dalí's life from your guide, including how the daring artist turned the town’s then-ruined Municipal Theater into the Dalí Theatre-Museum. Opened in 1994, the museum houses the world’s single largest collection of his works, including paintings, sculptures and other curiosities.

Marvel at the fanciful exterior with its crowning glory of sculptured eggs, and then go inside to explore the collection. See highlights such as the three-dimensional room set that resembles Mae West’s face, and gain fascinating insight into Dali’s artistic journey as you roam the galleries and adjoining Dalí Jewels exhibition.

Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore Figueres town independently. Your tour then finishes back at the start point in Barcelona.

Awesome trip!

It was very good! Had I known the local tours would have been an hour each, I would have skipped them to see more of the city and museum. To their credit they DID say we didn’t have to do the local tour, but I figured if it was 20 mins or so, I’d stick around. Otherwise, it was FANTASTIC. We did the Jewish museum in Girona (and I needed more time!) and lunch, and the Dali museum was great too.

Nice tour in a full bus

The city of Girona is a very beautiful medieval city, it is totally worth it. In Figueres, the only thing we saw was the Dali's museum, which is nice if you like Dali's work. If not, then don't go there. We traveled in a full bus, which first picked up some tourist at a different location and then came to pick us up. The problem was that the first group occupied all the spaces throughout the bus, leaving single seats here and there, so that families in the second group sat all separate. I think that the company should have reserved half of the seats for the second group.

TOUR to Girona & Figueres that NEVER happened
nikbet86
, Jan 2020
People made it to the appointed meeting place for this tour DESPITE the heavy winds and pouring rain on Tues 21st Jan. At 8:30am Julia Travel Agency took people to stand and wait on the corner street 2 blocks from the agency office for 30 minutes in the pouring rain and heavy winds without shelter. Everyone some of whom are over 80 years old were soaking wet. I got a bad cold and coughing from this tour that never happened. The tour bus never came. People were taken back to the Julia Travel Agency and was told to wait there until further notice. NO announcement was made that the tour was canceled, until I asked what was going on. This is of course a case of it wasn’t their fault (Julia Travel Agency) but of the Tour Operator. I was even told by this travel agency to go directly to the tour operator if I needed to pursue the matter. How dare I complain! Wow! I’ve never witnessed such disorganization and non-chalant attitude!!! Totally Unacceptable!!! Inclement weather to some extent is predictable especially in this day and age. It is therefore the responsibility of all parties concerned who are making money from this lucrative business to make proper accommodations to its customers. What’s wrong with a phone call or email notice? Isn’t that the reason why customers provide it when purchasing tickets?! Viator owes the customers who purchased tickets to this tour a BIG APOLOGY! It should also vet its local suppliers very carefully.

Sheila was our guide. We had a great time in Girona with the local guide then free time. If you want to see the entire museum, there’s little free time left to see the city. But the museum is worth it.

This is one of the best tours that we had for the whole month in Spain. Girona is the great stop and the walking tour is very easy. But Dali Museum is something very very special even for the person not profound in art like me. Wow! Must do! Overly impressed!

Laila was a great guide. Very informative and very helpful throughout the whole trip. Every detail of the trip is planned well and they mix in free time in Girona and Figueres. The bus was clean and well kept - both attractions were enjoyable.

I love surrealism and Dali. The Museum is not overly large, but has a great variety of his work. It is i on several floors. You will be surprised at the kinds of media Dali used.

NIce day trip when visiting Barcelona. The tour was well organized and moved with great punctuality. The only downside was that 2 language groups were combined into one tour and I thought it was a lot of information to relay for one person in two separate narratives. However our guide Mark was a professional and handled it very well. When in Dali museum make sure to check out the jewels collection - very unique and beautiful.
