A worthwhile evening to see Banff's wildlife
, Sep 2021
When I told my husband we were going on an evening wildlife safari, he looked at me like I was crazy and we were going to spend hours driving around for nothing. But, I'd say, at the end, we were both really happy we did - it was a cool experience. Our guide had a wonderful personality and was very educated on the entire area, the history and the animals. He took us to areas we wouldn't have thought to go to on our own. The coolest part of the tour was seeing a male elk with his harem. He told us all about mating season and was describing the personality of the very dominant male. You could feel the excitement from all of us, including our guide when another male started to approach. We watched the group for a good 45 minutes as he explained what rutting it and we weren't sure if we would see it. Finally, the smaller of the two males walked away, so there was no confrontation but it was an interesting learning experience. We ended up seeing two groups of elk and one content single male elk. It made the evening. I would definitely recommend it.
Nice first day activity

Overall was a nice evening activity. Our driver was awesome, she is very friendly, very knowledgeable and really tried to take us to locations to spot some animals. Overall we got some sightings of Elk, which was great but nothing other than that. I certainly recommend it as a nice evening activity.
Great experience!

Not worth the cost

The only thing great was the tour guide (he was amazing). Otherwise you just see goats and elk (which you see driving around as well) - if you have your own car select some routes and just drive there at dawn or dusk. This is not worth the money spent

Wastage of time and money

Ronnie the guide was amazing and was full of energy. This tour doesn't take you in dense forest areas which ahould be the case. It takes you through the normal roads and routes, just slowly. We didn't see anything else apart from couple of Elks. But that's not the point as you have to be lucky to see a lot. I do not recommend this tour as you can do it yourself, driving slow and looking out for the animals.
Great evening to look for wildlife

It was a great evening with our guide/driver. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and great energy. We managed to see some group of elks and deer but no bears - it was still a lot of fun and a lot of nice spots for pictures around Banff national park.
Amazing tour!

Banff Evening Wildlife Safari was a joke
, Nov 2019
I booked this Safari as it claimed 95% success and we had to be appropriately dressed, walking boots et al. The first thing we were told on entering the tour bus was that no one will be getting out to see the animals for safety reasons, next all need to look out to spot the animals. More eyes the better. It soon became obvious that we will not be seeing any bears etc. Driving on the road frequently used by other vehicle and not where the animal are expected to be was a sure recipe for not spotting any wild life. Eventually we returned to the Banff Golf course where we saw some deer. We had been on other Banff non-safari tours when we saw some wild animals as the bus driver knew which animal to see in its habitat and pointed them out to us. My question is should such a tour ever exist and should Viator promote it
Good experience

We were lucky to book during the elk mating season, and saw a lot of elk. The driver was very knowledgeable and drove very safely. I appreciated his efforts to keep the comfort of the animals as a priority.
