After making your own way to the Austin Visitors Center to meet your shuttle, travel to Texas Hill Country. Enjoy time at each stop, trying some authentic Texas barbecue and tasting craft beer and spirits without worrying about your transportation.

The Salt Lick opened in 1967, and became nationally famous after its barbecue was heralded on the Travel Channel in 2008. Salt Lick Cellars planted its vines in 2006 and served up its first bottles of wine in 2008.

Drinks and food are at your own expense. Expect the tastings to cost between $6 to $25; the Salt Lick is cash only, but they do have an on-site ATM. Your tour ends with return to Austin in the mid-afternoon.

Loved our tour guide but was mislead that the wine tasting were not included in the price. So we paid $50 a person to be driven around. So make sure to read the fine print!

Salt Licks has fantastic BBQ and both the wineries on the tour were first rate. Stephen, our driver and tour guide, was excellent. Funny guy, tour guide by day and stand up comedian by night. Very knowledgeable on the area.

This was a great tour taking you from downtown Austin into the hill area. Our guide Steven (also a comedian by trade) was delightful and a wealth of information. We got a bit of history and comedy on our way to some delicious BBQ and lovely wineries. It was a great way to see another side of Austin.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time on this tour! It was great to get out of town for a few hours and explore Hill Country, all while being shuttled around and getting great information along the way. Jax was a fantastic guide! Highly recommended.

My husband and I took a wine tour on Friday afternoon and it was sooo much fun! Jax was our guide and she was so incredibly comfortable to be around...it was like we were traveling with a hometown friend! She was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and really wanted us to experience it all. I would do it all over again in a second! Thank you to Jax and for this awesome time. We will be back!

Steve was a great tour operator. The tasting at Dunham had a more generous pour for the tasting. Driftwood had a larger selection for the tasting
