Begin your Athens walking tour at Syntagma Metro Station in central Athens. Greet your guide and head inside the station museum to explore what’s on show.

View the impressive exhibits, discovered during building work on the station. See the most prized items including tombstones, remnants of a 5th-century aqueduct, pottery, and even a 2,000-year-old beehive.

Afterward, walk with your guide to the nearby Greek Parliament Building on Syntagma Square. Snap photos of the handsome building as you hear about its past as a royal palace.

Then, delve further into historical Athens. Walk along the charming streets and admire the elegant architecture and sites such as the Zeus Temple.

Continue along traffic-free Dionysiou Areopagitou Street around the Acropolis’ slopes. As you walk, absorb the breathtaking views of the Acropolis and Parthenon, and pass the ancient Theater of Dionysus and sites such as Philopappou Hill, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and Mars Hill.

Your tour ends at the Acropolis summit. Before leaving, you may wish to ask your guide for further tips for sightseeing in the city.

Angeliki was very nice girl, and really knew what she’s talking about. She explained everything to us, and patiently answered all our question. Recommended for you to take this tour, since for me all the ruins looks the same. When you walk with someone that can explain it to you, so you can understand the interesting history behind all the ruins.

Walking Tour Through Historical Sites
nestravel2017
, Jul 2019
Our tour began at the metro station. Our guide was an archeology student and very knowledgeable. In the station we saw artifacts discovered during the station’s construction. From there to the government house with a commentary on Greek history. We saw the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s gate and, after a rest stop, the Acropolis. For those who don’t know Athens or a lot about Greek history, one of the foundations of Western civilization, the tour was excellent and informative.

Our tour guide was wonderful. She was very informative and always made sure that everyone in the group was present. It was a great way to spend the morning taking in the sites and getting the historical context. We were traveling with our 18 year old son and 21 year old daughter , who also both thoroughly enjoyed it.
