Easily the coolest attraction in town, Amsterdam Icebar Xtracold is made completely from ice — with frozen furniture, walls and even drinking glasses. On arrival in the lounge, you’re greeted with a complimentary cocktail and provided a thermal poncho and mittens before you step into the frosty bar with a temperature of 14 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 10 degrees Celsius)!

Once inside, relax at leisure amid the cozy yet icy ambiance. Enjoy your choice of either two Smirnoff cocktails or two Heineken beers on the house. 

Amsterdam Canal Cruise

Make your way to the pier near Amsterdam Central Station and board the glass-topped sightseeing boat for your luxury cruise. As you glide effortlessly through the city, you’ll see countless top Amsterdam attractions like the affluent Golden Bend (Gouden Bocht) neighborhood, the Anne Frank House and the Seven Bridges of Reguliersgracht. Pass the pretty gabled houses that Amsterdam is so well known for, and cruise underneath the Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) while your audio guide informs you of interesting facts and stories. Cruises depart every 15 or 30 minutes, depending on the season.

The IceBar needed attention and was not well maintained. It was definitely for a younger group although we had gone to IceBars in other countries that were fabulous. The cruise was underwhelming and a disappointment although it did give us an overview of the City of Amsterdam.

So I thought that the people checking tickets at the front at Icebar would have some idea that people have purchased tickets for both the Icebar and another activity (in my case, the canal cruise). So I was very confused how to transition from the Icebar to the cruise. My ticket was for 9:20pm so there weren't any canal rides at that time, but the tickets were still valid for another day, fair enough (although, this was my last full night in Amsterdam so I ended up not making the cruise). When you enter the Icebar, you are given 1 gold token and 2 silver tokens. The 1st gold one is for the main bar area and you have limited drinks to choose from. Then you go into the actual Icebar (both spaces are pretty small) where you can use the 2 silver tokens on shots, again limited choices. I would still recommend just for the experience, just look up the canal cruise times.

The ice bar was smaller than expected but very cool (quite literally) to be in. Drinks were tasty. The canal cruise departs from a location that is a 20 minute walk from the ice bar. Would’ve been helpful knowing times of the canal cruise as we missed the last one of the night, which leaves at 10pm.

This was booked because of the appearance that one might go directly from the Ice House experience (which was definitely a fun time) onto a canal boat for the second part of the deal. BUT, we were directed to take a metro train to then try to find the dock where the canal boat tour departed. We were a group of 10 and this was a huge hassle. Definitely NOT worth the money!!!
