The Basics

Join a guided tour of the Venetian islands and stroll through the winding streets of this charming island to admire the brightly painted houses and watch a lace-making demonstration. A private tour of Burano, Murano, and Torcello islands is a fascinating way to explore the less famous corners of the Floating City by boat.

Very nice trip
Wonderful tour of Murano & Burano; Serena was an excellent guide. We left from Saint Marks square and headed to Murano and saw a glass making factory - very interesting. After that we headed to Murano to see lace making process and then had an hour or so to explore on our own. All transports were arranged, on time, and had very pleasant personnel. I would recommend this trip to anyone who would like to visit those two locations.

Murano Glass Experience plus Visit to a Burano lace island
Our guide was very skilled and spoke 3 different languages on the tour. The boat we took was beautiful and clean. The only issue is there is only time to shop, eat, or take photographs on Burano. You really have to choose just one. I wish we would have brought food to eat on the boat so we could have spent more time shopping. Also the lace is quite expensive - just to give you an idea it was 95 euro for a tablecloth. I only had time to go to 3 shops. Didn't see much under that price.

Our guide was excellent in answering our questions and connected really well in three languages with our group. We enjoyed Burano the most.

Murano & Burano Islands Half Day Guided Tour by Private Boat
Francesca B was an excellent guide for our trip to Murano and Burano. She provided great and entertaining information to us and was a delight to spend the afternoon with in Venice. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice experience. The kids had a ton of fun learning about the culture and architecture! This is a great tour at an amazing price. I would highly recommend.

Hopping around Mazzorbo, Burano and Murano islands
We really enjoyed this tour. Valerio is a great host and I very much appreciated that he took us to places that gave us a feel for how people actually live on the islands. Seeing the garden in Mazzorbo was truly a breath of fresh air. It was also interesting to get the perspective of someone who actually lives on one of the islands.

Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour
Great value for money. Not enough time in Murano and an extra 15 /20 mins would have been good. Apart from that highly recommended.

Murano, Burano & Torcello Islands Full-Day Tour
Boat was very nice. Enough seating for every one. Murano glass blowing demonstration was the best. Just enough time to tour each island. I would recommend taking this trip. The time flew by!

Murano, Burano & Torcello Islands Full-Day Tour
Excellent value for money! A wonderful experience on these little islands. There was plenty of time to explore each island with the most time given on Burano. There was a guide on the boat who gave information on the way to each island about the surroundings. The tour was 7h (departure at 11am and arriving back at 6pm) and I enjoyed every bit of it. Make sure to have some lovely local food on Burano - it was worth it!

Murano & Burano Islands Half Day Guided Tour by Private Boat
Guilia was so friendly and did so well to manage two languages in the group. The tour was fabulous and her knowledge was really good. I would have liked longer a Bruano to make the day feel a bit more relaxed, but other than that it was great!

Full-Day Lagoon Tour Murano Burano and Torcello
The tour guide is friendly and helpful! It would be even better if we were allowed more time in Burano than Murano. We stayed in Burano only for less than an hour but two and two hours and 45 minutes in Murano.

Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour
Super way to spend over 4 hours. you travel by boat to Murano and Burano. The Murano Glass company has a nice demonstration and a shop to purchase glass. Most of the glass in the store is cheaper than in town. Burano is beautiful and you will be glad that you made the trip there with the beautiful buildings and nice restaurants

Things to Know Before You Go

  • A boat trip to Burano is a must for photography buffs, who will love capturing the vibrant colors.

  • Venice island tours require getting on and off a boat, so confirm wheelchair and stroller accessibility ahead of time.

  • Burano lace, like Murano glass, is made entirely by hand and is very expensive. Don't be fooled by cheap industrial knock-offs sold at many souvenir shops.

  • The island's main street is lined with souvenir shops, cafés, and restaurants.

How to Get There

From St. Mark's Square, take the 5.2 vaporetto from the San Zaccaria stop to Fondamente Nove, then transfer to the 12 to Burano. Boats run until late, but if you miss the last vaporetto, you’ll have to take what may be an expensive water taxi back to Venice.

When to Get There

Though the small islands outside Venice are less visited than sights like St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace, they can still get quite crowded. The best time to visit is in early spring or late fall. If you’re there in summer, head to Burano first thing in the morning.

Visiting Burano and Murano

Burano is often mistaken for Murano, the island known for its long history of glass blowing. You can easily visit both in a single day on a tour that combines them both. You’ll want to see Burano for the photo opportunities and lace-making and Murano for the glass-making demonstrations in the island's many glass factories.
