Ulaanbaatar

The Basics

Gain entrance to the Genghis Khan Statue Complex for a moderate fee, with discounts for children, and enjoy sweeping views across the surrounding countryside from the head of the great Khan’s horse. Even if you don’t choose to pose for photos in Mongol-style armor, a Genghis Khan Statue Complex tour is a Mongolian rite of passage. Many travelers visit from Ulaanbaatar, typically on a day trip that also features Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, but most organized tours of Mongolia include a stop here.

Mr Bat was a very helpful and...
Mr Bat was a very helpful and informative guide. He was punctual and provided a lot of local knowledge and historical information. There was plenty of time to do all of the activities and he was happy to accommodate individual requests where possible. I would definitely recommend this tour and hope I can do another tour with Mr Bat again soon.

Great tour

Day Coach Tour of Genghis Khan Statue Complex and Terelj National Park Including Lunch
This is an excellent tour for anyone like me with only a day to spare to see some of Mongolia's amazing sights. A bit of history, the chance to see some amazing landscapes, and a visit to a monastery. It's only ever going to be a taster on a 1 day trip, but this is a good one.

I am not good at English, but I did not have any trouble as Mr. Bat, a guide, told me in easy-to-understand English.I wish I had enough time to ride a horse and enter the ger. But overall I enjoyed having a good experience. It is recommended

Fun Day Trip to the Beautiful Country!

Terelj National Park and Chinggis Khaan Statue Tour
We had a wonderful day with our guide, Ebo, and driver, Mandakh. The visit to the statue, local family, lunch, horse riding, and hiking around Turtle Rock were are great. We especially loved seeing the yaks because we didn't see any on our separate journey into the country east of UB! Everything was very organized. The only downside was the road out to the statue and park being under construction, so there was a lot of dirt side roads. Not a knock on the company, just poor timing for our visit. Thanks again!

1 Day Coach Tour of Genghis Khan Statue Complex and Terelj National Park Including Lunch
We had a private tour and enjoyed it very much! Our driver/guide told us a lot on the way and tried to answer all of our questions. Unfortunately the roads were not so great, so we had to take a few detours. Our guide/driver took us to the Chinggis Khan monument, the Gorkhi Terelj National Park and the Aryapala Temple. We had a nice lunch in a traditional yurt and we saw yaks, horses, camels, sheep, eagles, goats, and other animals throughout the day. We also saw the turtle rock and other rock formations. All in all a great day out! Thank you :-)

Day Coach Tour of Genghis Khan Statue Complex and Terelj National Park Including Lunch
The trip stated with a visit to the Genghis Khan Statue and then proceeded to the National Park, a most breathtaking place. We enjoyed lunch in the ger, Turtle Rock and the absolute beauty of the Park itself. Jack, our guide, was the best.

Good Programme & Nice Guide

1 Day Coach Tour of Genghis Khan Statue Complex and Terelj National Park Including Lunch
The guide, Mr. Bat shared lots of interesting information about Mongolia and the attractions that we were visiting. The itinerary was very well-planned, besides the Genghis Khan Statue and the Turtle Rock in the Terelj National Park, we stopped by special spots on the road where Mr. Bat showed us some colorful Shaman Altars and various Mongolian traditional customs. The only thing from perfect was the vehicle. The tour was overbooked on the day. Finding it impossible get everybody in one 7-Seater, Mr. Bat had to arrange another car to carry the rest of the participants, who had to miss out his sharing of in-depth knowledge on Mongolia. Remember to have a full breakfast before you set off for the trip so you can wait for the great Mongolian cuisine served for the late lunch.

How to Get There

The Genghis Khan Statue Complex is located about 34 miles (55 kilometers) east of Ulaanbaatar, along the road to Erdene. Public transport is not a practical option here, and driving in Mongolia is dangerous, so most travelers opt for the convenience of an organized tour with door-to-door round-trip transfers.

When to Get There

Visible for as long as daylight persists, the Genghis Khan Statue Complex is open seven days a week all year round. During summer (mid-May to mid-October), it’s open from morning until well into the evening; in winter, it opens later and closes in the early evening. Try to avoid visiting over the Naadam festival period in mid-July, Mongolia’s busiest season.

Who Was Genghis Khan?

Known to Mongolians as Chinggis Khaan, or simply Chinggis, Genghis Khan (1162–1227) was one of the greatest military leaders in history. Overcoming childhood poverty, he unified the Mongol nation, turned his horse-loving people into a mighty cavalry army, and built the largest contiguous land empire of all time. In Mongolia, everything from beer and vodka to postage stamps bears his name or his image.
