Tokyo City View Observation Deck (Tokyo Sky Deck) Tours

In a city with many high buildings and observation decks, the Tokyo City View Observation Deck (Tokyo Sky Deck) is one of the best. It’s located on the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower, a sleek mixed-use skyscraper in Roppongi. There are three galleries with views towards different landmarks, as well as an open-air deck.
The Basics
The main observation decks are 820 feet (250 meters) high, and the open-air deck is 886 feet (270 meters) high. Here you can enjoy spectacular views of Tokyo Tower, Shinjuku, Odaiba, and even Mount Fuji on clear days. Tickets to the Tokyo City View Observation Deck also include admission to the adjacent Mori Art Museum, which showcases modern art. Be sure to stop by the observation deck as you explore the Roppongi Hills complex and Roppongi neighborhood.
Things to Know Before You Go
- There is an extra fee to visit the Sky Deck, a higher open-air platform.
- This attraction is wheelchair accessible.
- Tickets can be purchased in advance to save time.
How to Get There
The observation deck is located in the Roppongi Hills area, which is well-connected to other parts of Tokyo by metro and railway. Take the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line or Toei Subway Oedo Line to Roppongi Station; the Toei Oedo or Tokyo Metro Namboku Line to Azabu-juban Station; or the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line to Nogizaka Station. All are a short walk from Roppongi Hills.
When to Get There
The observation deck is open late into the evening. The night views are particularly spectacular, as the city is bright with neon.
Visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building
If you’d prefer a simple observation deck without the art gallery experience, check out the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku instead. There are two towers, each with an observation deck at 663 feet (202 meters) high. It’s free to visit, and the views are just as good.
