The Basics

Numerous Sydney sightseeing tours, focusing on history, culture, shopping, food, pubs, photography, or ghosts, will spend time in the Rocks. Walking tours of the Rocks can be combined with other top Sydney attractions and activities, such as the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Botanic Gardens, or Bondi Beach, or a Sydney Harbor cruise. Visit on a hop-on hop-off bus or boat to see sites at your leisure.

The Rocks is a great neighborhood to explore on foot. Highlights include historic Cadman Cottage, Susannah Place, and Foundation Park; historic pubs such as the Fortune of War and the Hero of Waterloo; great views from Observatory Hill; and arts and culture at the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Sydney Theatre Company.

illi-Langi The Rocks Aboriginal Dreaming Tour
A wonderful walking tour that highlighted the Aboriginal peoples harmony with the landscape and their familial connections to the land, the animals and each other. If anyone is interested in developing a greater knowledge of the First Nation people groups I would highly recommend joining one of these tours.

The Rocks Pub Walking Tour
This walking tour is a great way to visit historic “The Rocks” Sydney neighborhood and enjoy craft beer at 4 pubs. Our guide Adam had a wealth of history about the Rocks as well as knowledge of the beer at each stop. If you don’t like beer, you can have a glass of wine instead

Hearing the stories of the early days of Sydney and the evolution of the area. We loved the way the area has been preserved. Vicki was very informative and spoke clearly. And was also able to answer all the questions.

Convicts and The Rocks: Sydney's Walking Tour Led by Historian
This was one of the best tours we have ever done. Our guide, April, was fantastic. She was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Whoever said history was boring has never taken a tour with April. If you only do one guided tour while you are in Sydney, this has to be the one.

Max, our guide and Historian, was awesome, interesting, so informative. The history of the Rocks encompasses the history of Australia and Max made it come alive. Don't miss this most interesting tour and schedule it early in your visit as it ties into everything else you'll see and learn, Best of luck Max with your PhD studies in History!

The Rocks Pub Walking Tour
This was a fun and informative tour with drinks!! Our guide Gaz was the best! He was funny, friendly and very knowledgable. There were just 5 of us on the tour so it was a nice small group. We learned a lot about the area and got to try some great local brews. I definitely would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys a cold beer!

illi-Langi The Rocks Aboriginal Dreaming Tour
We were guided by the lovely Amanda, who was delightful. She told us about the tribal history of the Aboriginal people and showed us how they lived in the area. It was a slow-paced tour allowing plenty of time for questions and friendly chat.
