The Basics

The Taronga Zoo’s animals reside in 10 themed zones, each designed to resemble a natural habitat. Ticket options range from general entry tickets to admission with add-ons and upgrades such as supervised hand-feedings, behind-the-scenes experiences, and educational visits with Aboriginal guides to hear about the area’s indigenous connections to nature. There's even the chance to sleep at the zoo inside a classic safari tent, where visitors fall asleep to the sounds of the savanna but wake to views of the harbor. All tickets include a ride on the Sky Safari cable car, which glides above the zoo and provides an aerial view of the animals and Sydney Harbour. Those looking for convenience can book a tour that includes a Taronga Zoo visit, a Sydney Harbour cruise, and roundtrip transport from their hotel.

The best experience we had during our time in Sydney!
An absolutely beautiful zoo, even though a number of the animals were unavailable for viewing. The behind-the-scenes experience was well worth the cost. Our guide was informative, and very entertaining. Particularly enjoyed learning about "Drop Bears"! Highly recommend to all.

Sydney Harbour Ferry with Taronga Zoo Entry Ticket
Everything ran so smoothly, the staff were friendly, helpful and funny with a great sense of humour. The ferry ride afforded the opportunity of some great photos of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, so did the skyway up to the entrance of the zoo. The zoo is a must for all visitors to Sydney. The grounds and animals are so clean and well cared for. A great day!

Sydney Harbour Hop On Hop Off Cruise with Taronga Zoo entry
The Sydney Harbour cruise was amazing. We were able to get on and off at our leizure and there were plenty of boat times throughout the day. It was recommended that we go early to have enough time to see the Zoo. It was a very well kept and well designed zoo, too! I especially loved the indigenous animals, as well as the new tiger and elephant exhibits. Would definitely go again!

Sydney Taronga Zoo General Entry Ticket and Wild Australia Experience
We had the nicest visit to the Taronga zoo. We had the absolute best zoo keeper Holly, who spent a few hours with us going through the Australian animals at the zoo. We met so many of the animal residents, got to touch them and take pictures. I would recommend this tour to anyone that want a to learn about the behind the scenes information about the Australian animals.

Sydney Taronga Zoo's Australian Animals Tour
Wonderful tour through the zoo. Learning about the animals of Australia and walking among some of them was a treat. We were able to see up close the Koala bears and feeding the wallaby. Informative and fun.

This was an incredible tour, seeing much more of the zoo than we could have on our own! We had 2 volunteer guides for the two of us. They were both extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional!

Views from the Zoo

Taronga is an aboriginal phrase that means “beautiful view.” Indeed, the zoo boasts sweeping views of Sydney Harbor and landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Snap a photo of giraffes with Sydney’s skyscrapers in the background, or soak in the scenery while relaxing at one of the picnic areas overlooking the harbor. For another perspective, test your limits on the ropes course (additional cost).
