A trip well worth taking.
Well guided tour with train cabin exclusive for our use and we could move from one side to the other to get the breath taking views from the best angle.

Swiss Alps Bernina Express Rail Tour from Milan
The guide was excellent and frequently let us know of the itinerary so there wasn't any issue on time. The train ride was fantastic and having an hour in St Moritz was plenty of time.

Spectacular Alps

Swiss Alps Bernina Express Rail Tour from Milan
Spectacular visions at each turn. The train was comfortable and the alps were spectacular. Timing was a problem. When we arrive on time as designated, stop waiting forthose who aren’t. Our day was cut short at stops due to a late departure by almost an hour thereby pushing everything back. These same late people were late all day.

A spectacular day in the Alps

Swiss Alps Bernina Express Rail Tour from Milan
This was probably one of the best tours I have ever taken. The scenery riding the train was incredible. I thought I would be bored by the 5 hours up and 5 hours back but the scenery was more than enough to hold my attention. And the hour and a quarter spent in St. Moritz was more than enough time to wander around the town. So overall, I would highly recommend this tour.

Swiss Alps Bernina Express Rail Tour from Milan
Much recommended, the views were exceptional. Bus was clean and the ride smooth. Will hit traffic on the return trip so be prepared to spend much time on the freeway. Only cons were the tour guide wasn't that knowledgeable, having problems finishing his intro of the wines and inferno. Maybe my expectations for an English tour were too high.

Swiss Alps Bernina Express Rail Tour from Milan
Everything was good, the sceneries amazing, well organised, the only thing is We weren't allow to eat on the bus, the tour starts at 7pm me and my friends were starving and we had to wait until we arrived to a town just to eat a croissant and coffee, will be good if people know in advice this specially if you travel with children so you can prepare and eat something before you go in to the bus.

Breathtaking views
Ken S, Aug 2019
Swiss Alps Bernina Express Rail Tour from Milan
The tour started with a bus trip out of Milan that wound around the highways through northern Italy and into Switzerland, climbing up amazing switchbacks into the Alps. From there we had a visit at St. Moritz and then boarded the Bernina Express down to Torino. The train ride was amazing - wonderful views on both sides of the train of mountains, lakes, streams, meadows and alpine villages with gardens and cattle.

When to Get There

The Bernina Express runs year-round, and the alpine landscapes look just as mesmerizing covered with snow in the winter months as they do bursting with wildflowers throughout the summer. For a variety of scenery, traveling in spring is a good option, when the high mountain passes are still covered in snow, but the lowland valleys are lush and green. If visiting in winter, be aware that there is only one train departure a day.

The scenic train passes an impressive 196 bridges and 55 tunnels, and the section between Thusis, Valposchiavo, and Tirano is even protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Route highlights include Bernina Pass, Albula Pass, Engadine valley, and the highest point at Ospizio Bernina, as well as engineering marvels such as the Landwasser Viaduct and the Brusio Circular Viaduct.
