Mariinsky Theatre Tours and Activities

St. Petersburg’s preeminent opera and ballet venue, and home to the world-renowned Kirov Ballet, Mariinsky Theatre has long been at the center of the city’s rich arts scene. Built in 1859 by architect Albert Cavos and named after Empress Maria Alexandrovna, the theatre saw a host of prestigious performers grace its stage during its pre-Revolution heyday, including dancers like Vatslav Nizhinsky, Matilda Kshesinskaya and Anna Pavlova, and opera singer Fiodor Shaliapin.

The Mariinsky Theatre’s present-day building was restored in 1944, after being damaged during in the Siege of Leningrad, and features a 1,625-seat auditorium. Today, the historic theatre is accompanied by the Mariinsky Theatre concert hall, or Mariinsky II, an incongruously modern building that opened next door to the original theater in 2007.

Private 3-Hours Walking Tour in Kolomna

Private 3-Hours Walking Tour in Kolomna

We invite you on a historical journey through Kolomna. In St. Petersburg, it is a space where you will not find a trace of excessive luxury in the architecture; there are no overly grand styles or prominent monuments. Being in the center, which is strange for a megalopolis, it keeps its quietness and smoothness. Mysterious bridges peer into the water, and houses hide a solid array of famous names. Thanks to the stone embankments and low buildings, the abundance of canals and bridges, this area of St. Petersburg is tacitly called - Little Venice.

Three centuries of Saint Petersburg, Golden, Silver and Soviet ages of the city

Three centuries of Saint Petersburg, Golden, Silver and Soviet ages of the city

St.Petersburg apeared a little bit more than 300 years ago. And from its humble wooden beginning it played an important part in Russian history. I want you to take a closer look with me at places deeply connected with the three ages of St.Petersburg; Golden Age of being Imperial capital of privileged nobles and royalties, Silver Age of last days of Empire with decadent representatives of bohemian elite of art, literature, music and ballet that ended in three revolutions, led by the men of steel, willing to die and kill for their utopian ideas. I prepared a short description of the main highlights, which I strongly advise you to read to do the city justice. Let us start our journey together, so you would be able not just look, but really see the city in all its splendor.
