This is the perfect way to explore Iceland’s incredible scenery without being stuck on a crowded bus. Get out in the open air and ride an Icelandic horse from the stables in Vik to a picturesque black sand beach. No need to worry if you’ve never ridden a horse before—this experience is suitable for beginners and goes at a slow and calm pace.
Iceland is famous for its Icelandic horses, a native breed that have a unique gait known as a ‘tölt’. On this tour, experience riding an Icelandic horse and admire the wild landscapes of south Iceland from horseback. Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners, you will have time to learn the basics before heading out and get chance to experience the ‘tölt’.
If you would like to experience the Icelandic horse both in terms of riding and information, but doesn’t feel like going on an outdoor ride, this is the option for you. It’s a perfect pick on a bad-weather day, for families with smaller kids but also for anyone who might just prefer an indoor arena experience. You will receive both cultural, historical and characteristic information on the Icelandic horse as well as enjoy the change to interact with them in the stable. Furthermore, the ride in the arena will give you a chance to really make use of your instructor and gain new riding skills while having fun. Since we specialize in small groups, there will be plenty of space for all riders in our big arena and if someone might prefer to watch, there is space on the tribune. Finish off the tour in our cafeteria with a hot drink. We are located 1 hour drive south of Reykjavik. Age limit: 10 years Weight limit: 110 kg/242 lbs
