The Basics

The best way to experience Seattle’s top gastronomic attraction is by sampling your way through it. Guided tasting tours, cooking classes, and cultural walking tours of the market are all excellent ways to take in the sights and sounds, try a little bit of everything, and find spots you may have missed on your own. You can even book an early-access tour to avoid the crowds or take a chef-guided food tour for professional guidance.

The whole thing was phenomenal! Our tour guide, Will, was fantastic. I loved the Seattle history he threw into the tour as well. I have celiac and he was able to have a substitute for me, which I thought was awesome. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!

Bob did a great job of explaining all the history to our larger group than was expected. He also disinfected tables for us to sit at which was “going the extra mile”.

Will did a super job as our group tour guide! He was knowledgeable and engaged very well with the entire group of 11. The food and beverages we tried were varied and all together quite filling for the 2-hour tour. So worth it!

Pike Place Market Food Tour
The tour was great! Learning the history of Pike Place was very interesting and the tasting was really great. BTW, everything was good! There were things we sampled that I surely wouldn't have tried on my own, only to find that they were really tasty. Bob was great and accommodating for us as we couldn't take the stairs, he accompanied us on the elevator, which we really appreciated. Definite must do.

The tour was very enjoyable. "Lucky" our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the Market Place and it's local vendors. The food samplings gave us an idea of the many different options the market Place has to offer.

Classic Fish Throwing at Pike Place

One of the most entertaining spectacles are the seafood stalls, where fishmongers throw salmon and other fish to each other rather than passing them by hand. When a customer places an order, an employee at the ice-covered fish table picks up the fish and theatrically hurls it over the countertop so it goes flying through the air to another employee who catches it and preps it for sale. Vendors can pack fish for travel and most ship throughout the US.
