The Basics

The true flavor of Solvang lies in its quiet, tree-lined streets, half-timber Danish-style buildings, and ample shops, restaurants, and bakeries, not to mention its annual Danish Days festival. Other cultural attractions include the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, dedicated to Denmark's most famous author. Solvang is also a popular stop for cyclists, with numerous cycling-related events held in and around town—the Tour of California often passes through, too.

Wine Country Half-Day Bike Tour from Solvang - w/o Lunch
Mine was amazing!!! He was so kind and friendly. We had great conversation! The tour was so worth it! It’s a lot of manual labor but so worth it when you get to Los Olivos! Mike set up all our visits for us and made sure we got the most out of our tour!! Such a great day!!

Wine Country Half-Day Bike Tour from Solvang - w/o Lunch
Everyone ask for Hans. He is a legend and a super nice guy. Went at the speed we wanted and took us to a lovely Olive pile tasting place highly recommend. The wine tasting was meh, not the tours fault, we went on a Monday and I guess the wine place is slow so had a kid serving who clearly didn’t want to be there and gave no insite to the wine, no info, and really couldn’t be bothered that we were there BUT I’m told that’s not the norm at all. So I would still go again. The bike ride was great, the bikes are easy to use and super light loved all of it would totally do it again :) ASK FOR HANS! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Solvang/Santa Ynez Small Group All-Inclusive Wine Tour
This was a GREAT tour!!! We were all novices to wine tasting, but we felt so comfortable from the beginning. We got to sample from small, local wineries, and learn so much about the whole process. Each host was so different and very informative. Tom, our guide, did a wonderful job choosing three very unique places. Also, the wines for purchase were quite reasonably priced. Overall we would highly recommend this tour!

Solvang/Santa Ynez Small Group All-Inclusive Wine Tour
Easy breezy tour! Artisan Excursion provided us a super chill host Tom who taxied us from hotel to several wineries, and returned us safely back to our hotel. Reliable, laid back, and he chose some really great scenic wineries to visit! Tom served us a delicious lunch from Panino midway thru our tour. Fabulous way to celebrate a birthday with family... and made a few new friends along the way! Highly recommend!

We had a blast with this tour. It was my daughter's 21st birthday and she was up for the fun. Our guide Tom knows the area very well and the wineries chosen. Our lunch salads were excellent too. Thank you. We will visit again!

When to Get There

Solvang is a year-round destination, though it's at its most crowded during the summer months. While summers here can be quite hot, things start to cool off in September, just in time for the Danish Days cultural festival. Solvang’s winters are generally mild, and the town sees fewer visitors then; visit around Christmas to learn how the Danes celebrate the holiday.

The festival features free concerts, a crafts market, historical reenactments, and a variety of culinary events, from eating contests to traditional breakfasts. There's also a beer-and-wine garden and plenty of special activities for kids.
