SEA LIFE® Timmendorfer Strand Tours

SEA LIFE® Timmendorfer Strand
Located on the shore of the Baltic Sea, the SEA LIFE Timmendorfer Strand is home to over 2,500 creatures of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Although small in size, the aquarium houses more than 100 different fish and marine species including octopus, otters, and sharks.

The Basics

SEA LIFE Timmendorfer Strand is small but offers a variety of areas to explore, including an underwater tunnel, touch pools, and exhibits dedicated to rainforest and tropical ocean habitats. Highlights include sea turtles, black tip reef sharks, clownfish, lobster, and jellyfish. When visiting, check the animal feeding schedules to see how the otters, rays, and other animals interact with the staff.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Book your tickets in advance for the best price and to benefit from skip-the-line access.
  • Give yourself about an hour to visit this small aquarium.
  • The SEA LIFE Timmendorfer Strand is wheelchair accessible.

How to Get There

The SEA LIFE center is located right on the seafront of Timmendorfer Strand, just a short stroll from the pier. Regular trains run to Timmendorfer Strand from nearby towns such as Lubeck.

When to Get There
The SEA LIFE center is open daily year-round, but it’s worth checking the schedule in advance and timing your visit to watch the animal feedings. Saturday tends to be the busiest day; if you go on the weekend, arrive early to beat the crowds.

Things to do in Timmendorfer Strand

Most visitors to Timmendorfer Strand come for the SEA LIFE center, but the small town is also a popular coastal resort on the Baltic Sea. The beaches are the main draw here and are a popular destination for water sports;  the town also hosts beach volleyball and beach polo tournaments throughout the summer. Once you’ve had your fill of the beach, head to neighboring Niendorf, to see the Vogelpark bird sanctuary and Hemmelsdorfer Lake.
