Discover the lesser-traveled depths of Antelope Canyon on a walking tour through the lower portions of this colorful sandstone slot canyon. One of the most popular natural attractions in the region, the upper sections of Antelope Canyon are typically crowded with tourists. This tour takes adventurous travelers down ladders, through the tightly carved sandstone, and into a part of the canyon most tourists don’t reach.

Located on Navajo Nation land in Arizona, Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon known for its remarkable rock formations and colors, making it a photographer's dream. With this entry ticket to Upper Antelope Canyon, you'll have access, which is only granted to members of the public with a Navajo guide. This portion of the canyon is at ground level, meaning you don't have to climb, so it's suitable for most visitors. Once inside, look up at the beams of sunlight that shine down from the sky. Note, you must arrive 1.5 hours before your entry time to check in.

Buckskin Gulch Day Hike

Buckskin Gulch Day Hike

star-5

EXPERIENCE A DEEP, REMOTE SLOT CANYON. Buckskin Gulch is the longest slot canyon in the world, slicing through the beautiful Navajo sandstone in southern Utah. Enjoy an intimate adventure in an incredible slot canyon without the mass of crowds that are encountered at Zions or Antelope Canyon. We'll be dropping into the very middle of this remote canyon, bypassing a long hike at the beginning, and exploring the labyrinth at a leisurely pace all to ourselves. This hike is not for anyone with a strong fear of heights and requires a steep Class 3 scramble into the slot (you'll be using your hands). This is a physically demanding hike of a minimum distance of 4 miles and a max of 10 miles. Recent rain events may require hiking through mud and wading through pools of water. Conditions inside the slot canyon change continuously, so bring an adventurous and positive attitude. Entry into the canyon is allowed only if safe from flash flood danger.

Subject yourself and witness a masterpiece of Nature's uncanny craftsmanship as you embark on a visual feast for your senses. Enjoy a scenic ride to the canyon where the guide explains geology, cultural history and modern issues. Upon arrival at the site you will step into the desert and enter an amazing fantasy world in stone. For photographers, with proper exposures, you can bring out the best in your own creativity. For non-photographers there is a magical new world to explore and immerse yourself in. The colors are rich and deep in the morning and afternoon, and the famous light beams occur mid-day during April to September. This beautiful canyon is located at Page, Lake Powell in Arizona. You will meet at the Ekis' Tour office at the arrival time on your reservation. The tour will depart from the office by truck (approximately 10 minutes on a nicely paved road and 10 minutes within the dry-wash of the Antelope Canyon).

Visiting Antelope Canyon X, you’ll witness the same soaring walls and windy labyrinth paths as the popular Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon, but with one key difference — far fewer crowds. Antelope "Canyon X" Admission Ticket

Located southeast of Lower Antelope canyon by the gateway town of Page, AZ. This part of the canyon is chiseled out by millions of years’ worth of flood erosion and impactful winds on its sandstone, enough to sculpt out the iconic "X" shape that aptly named the canyon. Canyon X is a relatively new scenic tour and the lesser-known cousin of Upper/Lower Antelope Canyon, which results in fewer visitors by comparison to the other two. Canyon X is a nice mixture of the characteristics of both Upper and Lower canyon, with the Upper’s feature of pillars of light and the Lower’s steepness. Canyon X is also deeper than the other two by comparison, and with it brings ample photo opportunities. It truly is a great vacation spot for photography as well.

Private Buckskin Gulch Tour

Private Buckskin Gulch Tour

star-5

There are as many metaphors to describe what locals call 'down in the Buckskin' as there are people who have been there. I choose the word 'in' because you are literally inside the walls of the world's longest slot canyon. According to the Bureau of Land Management ('BLM') website, Buckskin Gulch is 16 miles long (around 26 km) from the Buckskin Trailhead to the Paria Canyon and over 500 feet (around 150m) deep at its confluence with the Paria River. There are places in the Buckskin where you are able to touch both canyon walls at the same time. Buckskin Gulch is a photographer's and hiker's Mecca. Every corner you turn is changing continuously; the cliffs are water-and-wind-sculpted patterns of colors, light and shadows. You may also marvel and puzzle at the meanings of the rock writings (petroglyphs) from the early Archaic period (some are as old as 9,000 years). It was voted one the top 10 hikes in the world by National Geographic Adventure Magazine a few years back.

Upper Antelope Canyon Guided Tour

Upper Antelope Canyon Guided Tour

Tours guides know all the hot spots and they will guide you through the amazing natural wonder of Antelope Canyon. They will provide you with the secret knowledge of photographing the beams and dancing with the sand. We will have little chance to be alone in the canyon on this tour, nor will we be able to hear the quiet that some of the other tour times provide, but this tour is a photographic extravaganza. We believe we have the best time starting at 10:30 am for photographing the canyon. We get the early development of the light beams and stay until the beams start to lift off the canyon floor. This tour is led with precision and experience.

Buckskin Gulch Day Hike
"I am almost speechless at this experience. It was that amazing. As this was not the private tour, we were not sure if there would be another group joining us. There wasn’t so it was just my friend, myself and our guide, Tom. Tom did a great job coordinating when to pick us up from our hotel as well as checking on any dietary restrictions since he provided lunch. The hike itself was great but Tom made this whole trip that much better. Personally, I am mildly wary of heights. Tom was an excellent guide in navigating us down the gulch. The 100ft descent may sound daunting but it was no sweat. The slot canyon offers incredible photo opportunities and is truly a one-of-a-kind adventure. An added bonus is that Buckskin has very little foot traffic. We saw a total of five other hikers on our trek. You really do get a personalized experience. As long as you are comfortable with some mild rock scaling, this trip is for you!"..."
