Replete with fresh produce, grilled meats, fragrant spices, and lots of mole (a spicy sauce), the 20 de Noviembre Market (Mercado 20 de Noviembre) is a must visit for food fans and casual visitors alike in Oaxaca City. Located just outside the city’s central zócalo, the market is also a great place to grab lunch from one of the many fondas and vendors.

Hola!!
I’m Betsy Morales, a Oaxaqueña, someone who was born and raised in the beautiful city of Oaxaca!
Located in the heart of the city, is the world-renown Benito Juarez market, where my family has owned a family restaurant for over 20 years. I know the Oaxaca markets like the back of my hand, as I grew up in the markets.. surrounded by the flavors, smells, culture, traditions, and visitors from around the world!
It is an honor to share with you the traditions and cultures of my beloved Oaxaca.
I will share with you my knowledge of Oaxaca’s internationally recognized gastronomy.
In addition, the “Oaxaca Street Food Tour” supports the lifeblood of our community, generations of local business owners.
As we say in Oaxaca.. !Buen Prevecho!

Earth, Corn & Fire: Tasting the Roots of Oaxacan Cuisine
11
On this tour in Oaxaca, we’ll get an edible crash course on the elements that are a bedrock of traditional Oaxacan cooking, as well as on how they are being safeguarded. We’ll go through neighborhood markets and visit home-based restaurants and the stalls of streets vendors, stopping to taste some of Oaxaca’s most iconic dishes and street snacks, from memelas to eggs cooked on the comal. We’ll taste local corn in various forms and see how it’s transformed from kernel to tortilla, in the process learning about the key role it still plays in Oaxacan cuisine and culture. Along the way we’ll meet market vendors who have been holding steady for decades and even visit the gallery of a group of young artists. We’ll end our journey with a meal in a family-run market restaurant, sampling several different types of the city’s most famous creations, mole,a dish that much like Oaxaca’s rich culinary heritage itself, is the result of numerous ingredients being lovingly and carefully mixed together.

Oaxaca City Walking Tour
We begin our tour visiting the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, a monumental architectural complex of the Dominican Order, without a doubt one of the most beautiful examples of Baroque in Mexico.
We continue on foot on the Tourist Walkway, from Santo Domingo de Guzmán and to the center of the City, where various museums, galleries, craft shops and restaurants are located.
In the center we can enjoy Banda de Música and Marimba, which play in the Kiosco del Zócalo, we will visit the portals of the center, in the Jardín de la Constitución.
We end with a visit to the November 20 market, where you can enjoy the rich cuisine of Oaxaca and the Benito Juárez Market, the most traditional, where you can buy the famous "Oaxaqueño Mole", Quesillo and Chapulines
