Top Nuwara Eliya On the Water

Surrounded by low wooded hills, the small village of Kitulgala is perhaps best known for being the location where David Lean filmed bridge on the River Kwai (1957). Kitulgala Serves as a base for a range of adventure activities, such as white-water rafting. Kitulgala is a small town in the west of Sri Lanka. It is in the wet zone rain forest, which gets two monsoons each year, and is one of the wettest places in the country. The stretch of Kelaniya River around Kitulgala is considered to be the best place for white water rafting in Sri Lanka. The main rafting stretch is about 4 km (3 miles) long and the rapids vary from Grade 3 to 5 depending on rainfall.
