Located in Manhattan’s East Village since 1968, Astor Place Theatre opened withThe Indian Wants the Bronx starring a then little-known actor named Al Pacino. Over the years, the theater gained a reputation for experimental productions. Since 1991 it has been the home of the Blue Man Group, which purchased the theater in 2001.
