The Basics

Tours are available year-round and at all times of the day, and can be customized to your interests and the timing of your visit. The easiest and most popular option for travelers wanting to see the Taj Mahal is to visit on a full-day group tour or in a private car with an English-speaking tour guide and driver, plus roundtrip transportation. Guided tours from both Jaipur and New Delhi abound and often also visit other interesting sights and attractions around Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, such as Agra Fort, the Red Fort, Akbar’s Tomb at Sikandra, and Fatehpur Sikri. Guided photography tours are a popular option at the Tah Mahal and generally take place either at sunset or sunrise. Other excursions, known as Golden Triangle tours, visit Jaipur, New Delhi, and Agra all in one go.

2 thumbs up day trip to Agra.
we decided to take the early morning train; collection and drop off was perfect and on time. beware scam artists at the train station; covid certificates not needed! the train trip was pleasant and was running on time. we arrived nice and early in Agra. collection from the station in Agra was flawless and we were taken for refreshments before the long day. The Taj Mahal was simply breath taking and our guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable the back story to the history of the Taj and the Agra Fort alone makes the trip worth it. the lunch which is included in the package is very good and literally a "eat all you can affair". the road trip back was good and we were dropped back at our hotel. a very pleasant day all in all. two thumbs up!

Taj Mahal Virtual Tour with a Guide(Online Experience )
The tour guide explained the process and reason for construction of the Taj Mahal. That was very interesting. Overall the tour guide did a great job informing our group of the story and features of the Taj Mahal. I would recommend this tour, especially with the convenience of the virtual element.

Taj Mahal Day Trip From Delhi with Lunch at 5 Star Hotel
I had an outstanding experience with the driver and the guide. My experience with viator was not good. The advertisement and the tickets lead me to believe everything was included. When I meet with the guide I was told that I still needed to pay for admission to the Taj Mahal and the meal. This should be made clear in the reservation process.

All Inclusive Day Trip to Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Baby Taj from Delhi by Car
Everything was perfect. Driver was there on time, we kept the schedule. Organisation was good, operator spoke english well, he was supportive and at service all the time for any inquiries. The Taj Mahal and Agra fort have a very special atmosphere, worth seeing at least once in a lifetime.

Taj Mahal Virtual Tour with a Guide(Online Experience )
Our 55+ community neighbors took the virtual tour of Taj Mahal with tour guide, Akash. It was an incredible experience. The time Akash took with us to explain the history and architecture of the building was comprehensive and interesting. I am telling everyone I can about this! Deborah J. Maryland

Our tour guide, Gaurav, gave us wonderful information! The car was clean, worked well, and our driver was right on time. This is a fantastic way to visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort without the extra hassle of trying to find a flight to Agra. Prepare for a long day, for sure We would definitely recommend!

Private Taj Mahal Day Trip by Express Train with Lunch
This trip was awesome! our guide completely made it worthwhile. We went to the train station and were met by one guy and he snapped a picture of us and texted it to the guy in Agra. So, our actual guide picked us up and took us to all the sites and, of course, the Taj Mahal. what a great trip and our guide was awesome!

Taj Mahal entrance ticket with optional add-ons
Very enjoyable tour of the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Our guide Ashik Khan - C.W.P No. 58932/2012 was most helpful, flexible and responded very quickly to our queries and concerns before and after the tour. He and his team were punctual and considerate towards our needed. Ashik took great pictures of all of us. The drivers that took us around were also courteous. Highly recommend this tour and Ashik the guide.

When to Get There

The Taj Mahal is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Both sunrise and sunset Taj Mahal tours are extremely popular, given that at these times of day, the sun creates an exquisite reflection upon the palace’s white marble, drenching its surface in red, orange, pink, and golden hues. It’s even possible to see the palace at both sunrise and sunset as part of a full-day tour of Agra that starts and ends at the Taj. Northern India can be hot in summer, so October to March, when the weather is mildest, are considered the best months to visit. Early morning is often the least crowded time of day to see the Taj Mahal.

Photographing the Taj Mahal

Though there is no substitute for seeing the famous Taj Mahal with your own two eyes, it’s a popular spot for photography. Raised on a marble platform, the monument’s only backdrop is the sky, and white minarets flank each of its corners, giving it a three-dimensional effect from each of its perfectly symmetrical sides. The photogenic structure also resides within a pristine Mughal garden. In the center is a raised reflecting pool positioned on a north-south axis so that when its fountains are not flowing, the Taj is perfectly reflected in its waters. Head to Yamuna River for a unique shot of the water in the palace’s foreground.
