Juhu Beach

Juhu Beach, Mumbai

The Basics

While Juhu Beach isn't the type of place most people would go to sunbathe or swim (it's urban and not that clean), it's a fun place to chill out and escape some of the hullabaloo of Mumbai city life. The southern end is dominated by high-end hotels and restaurants, while farther north you'll find all sorts of attractions, including children's rides, along with food carts serving up every sort of street-food snack imaginable.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Bring sunscreen and a parasol or a hat if you’re visiting on a sunny day.

  • Wear comfortable shoes or sandals, and be prepared for plenty of walking.

  • Swimming and sunbathing aren’t advisable, as the beach isn’t too clean.

  • Women who do plan to wear swimsuits should stick to a one-piece bathing suit or cover up with a T-shirt out of respect for local cultural norms.

When to Get There

Sunset is a great time to visit due to cooler temperatures and beautiful scenery. While Juhu Beach is accessible throughout the year, the best time to visit is between October and February, when temperatures are a little milder and the weather is dry. That said, it's also beautiful here during the monsoon months of July and August and into September; you may just have to pack an umbrella.
