The Basics

The 6.5-mile (10.4-kilometer) Hell’s Revenge Trail is a high-intensity off-roading track made famous by obstacles with names such as Hell’s Gate and Tip-Over Challenge. The trail is extremely demanding, so if you don’t have the right vehicle or adequate off-roading experience, it's best experienced on a guided tour. Tours range in intensity from extreme rock crawling adventures to scenic Jeep tours.

Guided Hell's Revenge UTV Tour
We took the 5pm tour in September and caught a beautiful sunset. While we were initially terrified (we’ve never driven a UTV before) we trusted the vehicle and our tour guide and had a blast. Mike was fun, made sure we saw it all, and gave us tips for the rest of our stay in Moab based on our interests.

Moab Mega Buggy on Hell's Revenge
The Mega-buggy was broke down but the substitute vehicle did not disappoint. Just plain fun traversing nearly impossible ups and downs in Hell's Revenge. Super team that aims to please.

Moab Mega Buggy on Hell's Revenge
We had a mega buggy trip planned. The night before we received a call a part broke in the mega buggy we had rented. They did their best to fit us in to another 4X4 trip. It was a guided 4 seater trip. This was a blast! The 4X4 buggy was incredibly powerful and fast. The guide was fun and very easy to get along with. I would recommend this trip to others.

Guided Hell's Revenge UTV Tour
Awesome trip! Unbelievable family experience and worth every penny. Adrenaline rush at every turn with amazing views. Our tour lasted 3 hours and even included a stop at fossilized dinosaur footprints. Our teen daughters can't stop talking about it.

Hell's Revenge 4x4 Off-Roading Tour from Moab
What a thrill! This was our first real off-roading adventure and I was a little apprehensive at first, not knowing what these UTVs were capable of but our guide, Danny was amazing and made us feel totally comfortable! It was teeth rattling but sooooo much fun. I’d love to do it again!

When to Get There

The trail is open year-round. To avoid snow or extreme heat, visit in spring or fall. The Moab Easter annual Jeep Safari in April is an ideal time to visit if you are looking for an off-roading party. If you’d rather have the trail to yourself, avoid visiting at this time; the crowds are hectic.

Beginner Friendly Off-Roading Routes in Moab

If you want to try out off-roading but aren’t ready for the extreme Hell’s Revenge Trail, choose a more low-key off-roading option in the region. For top-notch views and easy driving, try Shafer Trail through Canyonlands National Park. Or, look to Gemini Bridges Trail, another beginner-friendly trail that also boasts natural arches along the way.
