South Beach

Ocean Drive, Miami, Florida

The Basics

Head to Ocean Drive to see Lummus Park Beach, or stop by Lincoln Road to shop and wander the beach promenade between Fifth and Fifteenth streets. Another main highlight is the set of pastel-hued structures on Collins Avenue in the Art Deco District, home to the largest concentration of Art Deco architecture in the world.

A typical Miami city tour combines a stop in South Beach with a Biscayne Bay cruise around Star Island, an airboat ride in the Everglades, or visits to Little Havana, Wynwood, Miami Beach, and Coconut Grove. Choose a walking tour, a Segway tour, a boat tour, a food tour, or a bus tour according to your schedule and mobility. Architecture tours are conducted by the Miami Design Preservation League, among other operators, and stop at some of the most stunning architectural examples and the Art Deco Welcome Center.

A Taste of South Beach Food Tour
The tour with Sol was great: she offered the right level of information and great tasting options at a few restaurants in South Beach! I would absolutely recommend this tour with Sol!

South Beach Golf Cart Tour
A great way to see South Beach. Tour operator was knowledgeable and took us to several sites. Only complaint was the golf cart backfired several times during the tour.

South Beach Golf Cart Tour
Our guide was very good. He gave us opportunities to stop and take photos. It was a fun way to see South Beach and know where we wanted to go after the tour. Our 23 year old and us 60 year olds both enjoyed the tour

The Famous South Beach Bicycle Tour.
Very fun tour around South Beach and Star Island! Our tour guide asked if we wanted to see other islands as well so we also got to see Psalm and Hibiscus islands as well!

2Hr Private Boat Rental Miami Beach see the Homes of Millionaires & Celebrities
Captain Jack was simply amazing - very communicative the day of so we knew where to be and what to expect. The boat was clean, with some shade, and some sun - it was perfect. Little champagne, some music: Beautiful tour of the bay. Lots of fun nuggets about the homes and area from Captain Jack. Stopped for some snorkeling and swimming. Bumped into a curious sting ray. Really fun adventure!

South Beach Cultural Food and Walking Tour
My husband and I took this tour the other day with Gina. She was very knowledgeable and fun, and the food was delicious. We were so full afterward we could only eat a salad for dinner. Not only did we enjoy the food, but she shared a lot of interesting history about South Beach and we got to see the lobbies of several of the hotels we drove by. Highly recommended. Thanks, Gina!

Miami Skyline 90 min Cruise of South Beach Millionaire Homes & Venetian Islands
The tour guide was very informative and funny. The boat vessel looked very safe and clean. However, the excursion would be a perfect experience if the vessel was not so crowded, the seating was so tight.

Miami City Half-Day Bus Tour with South Beach Cruise
I had booked the wrong date and Miami Bus was very understanding and immediately changed and let us go on the tour. The Bus tour was great, however, the boat tour was the best part of experience.

South Beach Cultural Food and Walking Tour
Christina was a great tour guide and very conscious of timing, as well as adapting our tour to what the group wanted to focus on, including a mixture of history, culture, and food. I almost wish we ate at more places (if only my stomach would allow it), and I'll definitely be visiting again the places that she showed us!

How to Get There

Across the MacArthur Causeway from downtown Miami, South Beach stretches north from South Pointe Park all the way to 23rd Street. From Fifteenth to 23rd Street, the upper end includes the pedestrian thoroughfare of Lincoln Road and its associated shopping, eating, and nightlife, plus clusters of Art Deco buildings. Between First and Fifteenth streets is a quietly hip area that acts as a counterweight to the over-the top carnival of South Beach.
