The Basics

The Caves of Drach are one of the most popular attractions on the island, and many visitors see them as part of a small-group tour or private day trip from Mallorca that includes transportation. Individually purchased entrance tickets include a specific time of visit. All tickets include a live classical music concert and a short boat ride on Lake Martel, which is about 558 feet (170 meters) long. When booking with a tour, it’s possible to combine your visit to the caves with a tour of the Majorica Pearl Factory in the nearby city of Manacor and explore the fishing village of Porto Cristo.

Michael, our guide, was prompt, friendly, and informative. The cave experience was better than most I've seen in the U.S. One of our trip's highlights!

Mallorca Day Trip to Majorica Pearl Shop and Caves of Drach
Since the beginning of the trip, the tour guide was lovely. He surprised everyone by talking in 6 languages and the biggest surprise was when we found realised we come from the same country. He made the trip enjoyable and full of interesting information. Many thanks to Florin for making me feel like a VIP.

Mallorca Day Trip to Majorica Pearl Shop and Caves of Drach
Really wonderful, the caves are amazing and the timings are perfect the opera inside the cave is an amazing experience. the pearl factory was also not that bad as people write in the reviews it's quite informative and the products they have are good too, if you really select, i am sure you will be able to find one which suits you to keep as a souvenir.

Private Tour: Mallorca Caves of Drach and Majorica Pearl Factory
This was one of our kids favorite tours. We were coming to the end of our trip and needed something besides 'looking at cathedrals'. We got to see the town and had fun while doing it! I would recommend taking your own pics as well as those they provide for you. As a note we also took the little train car ride to the Basilica to overlook the city and coast. This was our scooter tour guides suggestion too.

Caves of Drach Half-Day Tour with Boat Trip and Music Concert
The caves are great and definitely worth seeing but the tour company needs to work on their schedule and staff. We made two supplemental stops before getting to the caves which only left us an hour to do the walk-through concert and boat ride at the end. Our tour guide was extremely rude and said we were making everyone late because we came out right when he said we were meeting. If we hadn't made the last stop at the Port for 20 minutes of nothing we would have had more time to enjoy the actual attraction. Definitely a detraction but the cave itself is amazing.

Mallorca Day Trip to Majorica Pearl Shop and Caves of Drach
Guide was great but would have loved to forgo the factory to spend more time at the caves. Caves were crowded so be prepared for that. The short classical concert was neat.

Mallorca Day Trip to Majorica Pearl Shop and Caves of Drach
The bus picked us up much farther away than all the other tour buses, but once we were on the bus the ride to the caves was great, the tour guide was friendly and the caves were really incredible. You probably won’t have time for the boat ride due to crowds and the time to return to the bus. I wish they skipped the pearl shop and we had more time to explore the caves.

On balance a good day - read on...

Mallorca Day Trip to Majorica Pearl Shop and Caves of Drach
This trip consisted on a visit to Sineu market, a visit to the Majorica Pearl Shop and the caves of Drach. The market stop really appealed to us as we like a bargain and there was enough time to get around a good few stalls looking for a bargain, trinket or present. There is a lot of stalls for those of you who like the cut and thrust of the barter. As with most stalls it was leather goods, clothing and a lot of imported tat. However there were also stalls with local crafts (pottery, olive wood products and a few antique stalls). The second part of the trip was to the Majorica Pearl Shop - this promised much but turned out to be not much more than a toilet stop. The top floor has live demos of pearl making and a vast display of the history of pearls (far to much to read about is the 30 minutes we had to stop - the lower floor was a factory shop but once again we were so short of time we really couldn't spend the amount of time to look at everything - on top of that - Jean felt the designs were too traditional (dated). Suffice to say by the time we had queued for the loo and had a quick look around it was time to move on. The Caves of Drach or Dragon Caves were the highlight of the trip and definitely worth the visit without spoiling it for people the sights of large caverns with their huge range of stalactites and mites beautifully lit with well designed paths and rails - guides to help at every turn and the lake concert at the end makes this a must. On balance a good day - around 6 hours from pick up to drop off so not too arduous for those of a less able disposition.

Mallorca Day Trip to Majorica Pearl Shop and Caves of Drach
I am happy that I have chosen this Trip and from this page. Trip was well organised and we visited different places: Pearl Shop, Porto Cristo town, Caves of Drach. Unfortunately, we didn't know that there was more caves. So part of the bus was taken to caves (don't remember exact name of caves) and we were taken to Porto Cristo town. Here was very nice beach, shops, place to eat. Later all the group was taken to Caves of Drach. Here we go to the bottom of cave and lessened for live music. Full cave excursion took 1 h (because of a lot of people going down and up to/from cave. Totally worth it to visit.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Photos and video are prohibited during the concert.

  • Facilities at the caves include free parking, an ATM, and a public telephone.

  • Due to the natural features of the caves, the complex is not wheelchair accessible.

How to Get There

The easiest way to visit the Caves of Drach is as part of a package tour, half-day or full-day trip. To visit on your own from Porto Cristo, take a local bus, which stops outside the caves. Due to the caves’ popularity, purchase a tour or tickets ahead of time, as tickets can sell out.

Things to Do on the East Coast

There are several options for things to do while on the east coast of Mallorca. In addition to visiting the caves, check out the area’s sandy beaches, scuba diving sites off Porto Cristo, glass-bottom boat tours along the coast, and nearby villages such as Cala Millor, Porto Colom, Cala Bona, and Sa Coma.
