Batu Caves

Gombak, Kuala Lumpur

The Basics

Due to their location just 8 miles (13 kilometers) outside downtown Kuala Lumpur, the Batu Caves are an integral part of most city sightseeing tours. And, with the 272 steps leading up to Temple Cave recently painted in vibrant colors, the scene is now even more impressive for photos. Tours that combine a visit to the Batu Caves with an evening boat ride to see the Kuala Selangor fireflies are a popular choice with nature lovers, while activity-packed city tours, some of which include skip-the-line entry to the Petronas Towers, are ideal if you’re on a time budget.

We did the tour together...
We did the tour together with another couple, so there was plenty of space in the van for all of us! The tour through the pewter manufacture process was well organized and they're not intrusive to buy anything at the end. However, the highlight of the tour for us were the Batu Caves. You get dropped of at the entrance and can use the time for your own.

Half-Day Guided Rock Climbing in Batu Caves, Malaysia
Our guides were great! I've been rock climbing for years so I could tell they were very safety conscious but also super fun to spend the morning with! At the end of the morning they also dropped off at batu caves

Private Half-Day Batu Caves and Cutural Tour in Kuala Lumpur
That was an amazing tour. kalai mam brings a huge car for us and was polite and friendly in nature that makes our tour much easy to explore batu caves, central market, China Town and all other places. kalai mam tells us all the history about batu caves and all other places. The car was super cleaned and she drives so nicely. So i want to thank kalai mam because without her we are not able to make a tour of batu caves and of all other places. THANK YOU.

Batu Caves & Genting Highland Day Tour Include 2-Way Cable Car Ride
Had a wonderful day trip going to Batu caves, followed by Genting Highlands. We started from KLCC at around 10:30 a.m. and was back home at 7 p.m. One day is enough only if you want to spend just an hour or two in each of the places, otherwise you can spend an entire day (or two) in Genting Highlands alone. But overall, for us this was a perfect package arranged by Viator. Also, special thanks to our guide Mr. Navin for making the journey very enjoyable for us.

Malaysia Countryside and Batu Caves Tour from Kuala Lumpur
An overall good experience. The driver confirmed the pickup time and location hours before, he was on time for the pickup, very courteous, accommodating and friendly, and the bus was clean with comfortable seats. The caves were a nice visit, and the Royal Selangor tour turned out to be a great stop, even though we knew very little about it before. A well spent afternoon!

Batu Caves,Waterfalls and Hot Springs Tour With Lunch
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, & helpful. Apart from that, the sight, food, & being close to nature again were something we wouldn't forget. The only downside of this trip was when my dress was stolen by the monkey when we went to the waterfalls. But overall, every part of this tour is worth your time & money.

Private Half-Day Batu Caves and Cutural Tour in Kuala Lumpur
The tour guide was kind and flexible to my needs. I spent more time at batu caves and we skipped the mosque which I didn't mind at all. Felt safe traveling alone. Picked up and dropped off on time. Would definitely book again.

Highlights of Cameron Highlands and Batu Caves

Cameron Highlands Nature & Batu caves Tour
This is a good tour if you are short of time and do not want to plan the logistics of travel. Basically the driver picks you up from the hotel, takes you to the highlights of the Cameron Highlands and back to Kuala Lumpur. I picked this tour over other Cameron Highlands tour as it included Batu Caves - I didn't need to go on a separate trip to visit this place.

When to Get There

In the early morning, the Batu Caves are far less crowded and much cooler, making for a much easier climb to the top. Plus, less people means better photos on the brightly colored steps. During the Hindu festival of Thaipusam, which generally occurs in January, millions of devotees flock to the caves.
