How to get there

Butterfly Hill overlooks the southeast coast of Koh Samui and is located near a hill at Natien Beach, opposite the Centara Villas Samui. It’s about a 10-minute drive from the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, which are found at the end of Lamai Beach. Taxis are readily available in Koh Samui or you can hop on a songthaew, makeshift buses that run along different routes; check with the driver to make sure it’s going in the right direction.

When to get there

Overall, expect the biggest crowds in Koh Samui from December to February, when it’s warm, sunny, and not rainy. March to August is considered hot season, but it’s a good time to visit if you can tolerate the heat. Also, keep in mind when you’re planning your travels that Koh Samui’s climate is different than Phuket and other parts of Thailand.
