The Scores, St Andrews, Fife, Scotland

The basics

The castle was badly damaged during the Wars of Independence and little of the original castle remains today. A new structure was built around 1400, which later served as a prison; during the Scottish Reformation it was a notable site of religious persecution. Visitors can see the bottle dungeon where the Scottish reformer John Knox may have been imprisoned. You can learn more about the castle’s dramatic history during a guided tour of St. Andrews. The ruins also offer impressive views of the North Sea beyond the rocky coast.

St Andrews History Tours
This was such an amazing tour! It was perfect for our family and kept us interested the entire time. Richard was great at incorporating history and modern events of St. Andrews. We loved learning about the lost treasure of the church and it’s on going search. He answered all of our questions and was very kind.

This is more factual based and explains why people see phenomena rather than a fun giggles tour. Good for historical fact etc

Kingdom of Fife & St Andrews Full-Day Guided Private Tour in a Premium Minivan
We had a wonderful day trip with our tour guide, Sean. He was very knowledgeable and personable! The private tour in a luxury van...with drop off and pick up at our hotel...was well worth the price. We were able to see and do so much! A great highlight of our trip to Scotland. Thank you, Sean!
