Old Town, Dubrovnik

The Basics

Dubrovnik’s Old Town is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia, thanks in part to the fact that it’s the filming location for the fictional city of King’s Landing in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones.

Visitors can take a guided stroll through the ancient city streets visiting such famous landmarks as the Rector’s Palace, Cathedral of the Assumption, and the Onofrio Fountain. Don’t miss a walk along Dubrovnik's ancient walls, which offer sweeping views over the maze of red-roofed Old Town buildings and out into the deep-blue Adriatic.

Walking The Path Of History.
Our guide did a wonderful job of showing us Old Town while sharing its history in a memorable way. He made us laugh and the time went by so rapidly that we couldn’t believe it was over. We learned about Dubrovnik from the 700’s to the modern war, how the country managed to keep most invaders out, and how they were taken over by Bonaparte and so much in between. I came away feeling as if I could share Dubrovnik’s story with my family when I get home. It was so wonderful and worthwhile.

Dubrovnik's Old Town Walking Tour
Our guide Ivan was knowledgeable and passionate about both Dubrovnik and Croatian history. He gave the group an colourful insight into Dubrovnik's history putting it into the wider context without getting embroiled in the politics. He was considerate of the group avoiding the crowds and sun wherever possible. He made recommendations of other activities. Definitely well worth doing and value for money

Sea kayaking (with snorkeling) around Dubrovnik's old town city walls
I only spent 1 day in Dubrovnik and I am SO glad I did this. We had the best time, the views were amazing.. pictures don’t do it justice. The waters were so clear. We had the nicest guide, who gave us bananas so we could hand feed the fish and gave us loads of background history of the areas we kayaked

Dark Tales of the Old Town
Our guide Marija was amazing she spoke with passion and a wealth of knowledge. She was enchanting and engaging. She showed us parts of the town we would never have found and captured us with her love of the city and it’s darker history. One of the best dark tale tours we have been on.
