Diagonal Mar Tours and Activities

Formerly an industrial area, Diagonal Mar is one of Barcelona’s newest neighborhoods—a mix of residential complexes, hotels, businesses, and conference centers. Located along the northeastern portion of the city’s coastline, the area is known for its huge shopping complex, Parc del Fòrum event center, Parc Diagonal Mar, and the city’s newest beach.
The Basics
One of the biggest attractions in the area is the Diagonal Mar Shopping Center, one of the largest shopping centers in Catalonia. Another popular attraction is the 40-acre (16-hectare) Parc Diagonal Mar, a groundbreaking and sustainable urban park full of water features. Diagonal Mar is also home to Barcelona’s newest beach, Llevant Beach, and the sprawling, waterfront Parc del Fòrum, where big concerts, festivals, and exhibitions are held.
The area is best explored on foot. Visit the neighborhood on a hop-on hop-off bus tour and see other Barcelona highlights at your leisure.
Things to Know Before You Go
How to Get There

The neighborhood is also accessible via the hop-on hop-off bus.
When to Get There
Diagonal Mar can be visited year-round. Sun seekers will enjoy the beach most during the summertime, though that will also be the busiest time. Many shops are closed on Sundays, but restaurants and bars are usually open. Those planning on attending concerts, festivals, and conventions at the Parc del Forum should check the schedule. The popular Primavera Sound Festival is usually held at the end of May and into early June.
